MINISTRY

Work according to the Webster's Dictionary means to bring to pass. That would mean completing a task that has not been completed, that needs to be completed. Now, what is that task?

The Bible in Matthew 28:19 took the last words of Jesus before He ascended into Heaven: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." When a person give their last words before departing in death or distance, those words then become a mandate and therefore become urgent in the action. Therefore, Jesus last words to us on this earth have become a mandate for us as Christians. His words are bolded in some versions of the Bible in Matthew 28:19 speak of a task that is yet to be completed. It is a task that has been given to the Church.

It is the desire of IFGF GISI Greater Seattle Area to see this work that was started by Jesus be completed in it's entirety. There are many way Christians can be a "Working Church":

  1. Lay Ministry
Through the lay ministry in church, you have an opportunity to be prepared to be an efficient worker for the Lord. In our church there are many areas of ministry that can be a channel of your various talents and abilities to be a blessing to others. Examples of such ministries are : Music, Ushers, IT, Creative Arts, etc.
  2. Networking with other Organizations and Churches
IFGF GISI Greater Seattle Area has and will continue to participate in events that allow inner city ministries. In the past, we have been involved in efforts organized y the Union Gospel Mission Organization. This allows us to learn to give of ourselves for the blessing of others.
  3. Personal Evangelism
This was the direct mandate of Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19. As a Christian, we are called to Shepard and disciple others unto a mature relationship w/ Jesus Christ.

To end let us see where the Bible stands on the topic of work.

2 Thessalonians 3:10b says: "If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat." Come involve yourself in the work of God. Let us unite together and build a "Working Church".
